Minding the Gap

  July 20-August 27, 2009

Minding the Gap was a multi-media exhibit featuring works by 52 St. Louis regional artists from Missouri & Illinois. The exhibit presents 68 artworks in a variety of media that examine neglected negative space, empty spaces or the missing subject.

Juried by artists Brad Loudenback, Associate Professor, Webster University, St. Louis, MO, and Bill Yonker, Director of Exhibitions, Messing Gallery of Contemporary Art, MICDS, St. Louis, MO.

 


For this exhibit, 84 St. Louis regional artists submitted 142 artworks for the jurors' consideration. From those entries, Mr. Loudenback and Mr. Yonker selected 68 works by 52 artists for the final exhibit.

On Saturdays during this exhibition, Art Saint Louis hosted Meet the Artists events wherein featured artists from “Minding the Gap” were on-hand in the Gallery to greet visitors and discuss their works in the show. These very casual Saturdays were free & open to the public.

Minding the Gap: Mindful Selections


  August 21-September 15, 2009

  at Third Degree Glass Factory

As a special addition to the "Minding the Gap" exhibition, eleven artworks from the show have been selected to be presented in an off-shoot exhibit, "Minding the Gap: Mindful Selections," presented at Third Degree Glass Factory August 21-September 15, 2009.

Works by Tim Hahn, Patty Heyda, Ruth Kolker, Lyn Magee, Martha Mahon, Dawn Ottensmeier, Patrick Quigley, Marceline Saphian, Tony Schanuel, Robert Schleicher, and Barbara Shaffer are presented in this curated exhibit.

Please join Art Saint Louis and Third Degree Glass Factory for a free opening reception at Third Degree on Friday, August 21, 2009, from 6-10 p.m.
