Drift
June 25 - August 19, 2011
This unique exhibition is co-presented by Art Saint Louis and the St. Louis Artists' Guild and will be one exhibit presented at both locations. Our aim is to use the show as an opportunity to focus on the geography of our two organizations and the vast community that we serve. There will be an emphasis on artworks that highlight geographical & physical movement, East vs. West, how people relate to nature and the world around us. This will also tie into to Urban Drifting, Drift-Walks, the Situationists and Dérive, serving as loose examples of what we hope artists to convey in the works they submit for jurying. Related programming is tbd and may include a Guided Drift-Walk resulting in artworks created from that experience, a workshop or panel discussion, and possibly some kind of plein air art event open to all media that would focus on urban & suburban places, such as the locations of both organizations. Open to artists 21+ residing within 200-mile radius of St. Louis, MO. All media, except ceiling installed or works that rely on use of Internet for display. Juror: Dr. Ivy Cooper, Professor of Art History, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Juried from by jpegs on CD, limit 2, artworks created 2008-2010 only. Entry forms required & available Spring 2011. Deadline for entries: April 2011, specific date tbd. Portions of this exhibit will travel for exhibition at Edwardsvile Arts Center (Fall 2011).
